About Us
Little Spark Films and the ever punishing hurdle called success
Little Spark Films (LSF) was founded with a bold and daring approach to filmmaking. They started by producing a short film in just one week, purely out of passion. Despite not winning any awards, the team was proud of their achievement. They managed to write, plan, shoot, edit, and submit the film on time, which was accepted. This success inspired them to develop their own unique approach to filmmaking, which they proudly call "punk filmmaking". Over the years, they have worked on various sets for major productions and have produced shoots for local businesses and independent musicians in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The LSF team is confident in their ability to produce high-quality films and offer their clients a unique and creative perspective in the industry.
Our Story
Over the years, Little Spark Films has had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most talented and interesting individuals in the entertainment industry. Our diverse experiences include collaborating on season 2 of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs to directing feature films with renowned personalities such as Lloyd Kaufman, Kevin Gage, Isaiah Washington, Lou Temple, and Fangoria legend Kerry O’Quinn.
Our most recent project, "The Torturer," is a short film that was written by renowned horror novelist Paul Kane. The film is a dramatic and intense portrayal of an interrogation that is filled with nightmares and trauma. It is considered to be one of our most esteemed projects to date, showcasing the exceptional talent of Texas-based actors Paul T. Taylor and Lawrence Varnado.
"The Torturer" was beautifully shot in 6k by director of photography Jörg Viktor Steins-Lauß, who masterfully captured the film's haunting visuals. The film was directed by Joe Manco, who brought his unique vision and creative sensibility to the project.
Overall, we are proud of our collaboration with such a diverse and talented group of individuals, and we look forward to continuing to work with some of the most intriguing people in the entertainment industry.
“The ambiguous nature of the story is the fuel for the cinematic, wildfire. As soon as we are drawn into the passionate queries of the Torturer, we are smashed in the face with some of the best, lower-budget torture effects I’ve seen. Far from being “torture-porn” the violence takes you right to the edge of unbearably gruesome, only to let you breathe for a bit, before the next round. This is the kind of ebb and flow that genre films have lacked for far too long.”
